Unit 8

step 1

I have continued to use the Practice Session Pyramid and Practice Sequence Pyramid on a daily basis.

I have started using the Practice Method Pyramid starting from the bottom and moving up.

Step 2

step 3

Done on paper :)

Step 4

1.  Have you been successful in integrating all layers of this Practice Method Pyramid #3?

I think I have been successful in integrating all layers of this Practice Method Pyramid because it is typically what I do when practicing.

2.  What aspects of this pyramid do you find helpful?

I thought having this guide in general has been helpful because though the layers are things I normally do, the order keeps me organized. Besides this, I thought the slow practice layer has been helpful because it is the step I usually skip, which then makes getting the chunk correct 3 times in a row more difficult.

3.  What aspects of this pyramid do you find to be a challenge?

As I started to mention, I think the slow practice aspect of this pyramid was most challenging because I just want to play it at full speed and expect to get it right (which doesn't work). By slowing it down, and taking my time, it has been quicker/easier to play the chunk 3x in a row correctly, and takes less time overall, even if it feels slower in the moment during that step.

step 5

One music literacy concept from the list that I have implemented into my technical skill development from the list from my Unit 1 Tool Box is ear training. A resource I have used to help with this music literacy concept can be found here.
